How To Disable Last Active/Active Now Feature On Facebook (PC Users).

The Time Stamp feature let your friends know about your Last Active time on Facebook
This is a very annoying feature and also many users do not like it.
As there isn't a specific setting either on Facebook's website or in the Facebook app to turn this off but I have found some solutions for PC users so that they can hide their Active Now/Last Active status while using Facebook from PC.

  • First of all logout your Facebook account from all recently used Facebook applications i.e. Android, i OS.
  • Users having Facebook app for android, follow these steps:
    1. Go to App Settings. Set Refresh Interval to 'Never' and 'turn off' Messenger location services.
    2.  Under Notification Settings disable all type of notifications.
    3. Then logout your account.
  • Now from PC:
    1. Go to Account Settings > Security Settings. Now select Active Sessions and end all activity sessions.
    2. Now select Apps option by opening Account Settings only. Edit 'Apps Others Use' and unmark 'if I'm Online'. Save changes before exit.
    3. At last 'Turn off chat' for all users.
Now you will not be shown to any of your friends that when you were active last time. But if you have viewed (seen) the message of any perticular friend, the time stamp will note that active time and it'll start a new session starting from that time (will be viewed to that person only whose message you've seen last time ). So better surf facebook without viewing any message and stay hidden. OR You can install this "Facebook Unseen" extension in order to view the messages without getting notified to your friends.

  2. So to avoid the "active" feature, I cant allow my mobile app to refresh or notify me? That's basically the only reason I use the app (otherwise I could just use my phone's web browser to visit fb directly).

General note: while using your mobile device's web browser to access fb, switching to "desktop" mode should enable you to make the "PC" changes from your phone.

  3. I'm going to set up text message fb notifications before changing my fb mobile app settings (hopefully I get the same result).
